The Newfangled

A new thing,
How much happiness it does bring!

When you slowly open it,
And reveal it's shining skin.

Like a new born baby,
It is taken care of.
You boast about it,(cough, cough!)

You use it quite happily for a few days,
Or a few months even,
But soon you want something else,
Trust me, I have gone through this phase myself.

And as each day passes,
Newer versions become more and more popular with the masses.
You want it badly,
But you already have one (sadly).

You keep convincing yourself,
The thing isn't as bad as it seems.
It feels as though,
Fighting inside you there are two teams.

A bit later,
A new collection is added to the stock.
Realizing what a big fool you are,
Gives you quite the shock.

The truth is,
It is a never ending chain,
One thing after another,
Is always desired by the brain,

Even if you buy the best,
Sooner or later, a better thing will come out next.
You'll crave for it, you'll want it,
But just think once, 'do I really need it?'

If you sulk for things,

You'll never be happy.
But if you are content with what you have instead,
In life you'll always go ahead!
